Posted 02/11/2009 10:05:52 PM | | I was asked to attend a meeting on November 2nd at Cardiff Port Authorities with a view of getting a conclusion to the fishing access to Cardiff Foreshore
Mr. Ian Meredith the Port Facilities & Security Manager had called a meeting and insisted that this will be the last time he was prepared to sit down with anglers as a previous meeting eleven months ago had not made any progress.
Presently fishing is allowed between the Heliport and the Monkey pole without a permit. Anyone fishing beyond the Monkey Pole will require a permit. The limit will be to the bottom of Longships Road
Anyone can apply for a permit, each individual has to fill in an application form accepting the conditions \ rules with a passport photograph and a valid copy of insurance and some form of identity. The cost of the permit is set at £5.00which will run from January 1st to December 31st. Any permit applied for now will run until 31st Dec. 2010 it is therefore not renewable in January 2010
The group will be known as the Cardiff Foreshore Syndicate which will appear with your photograph on an identity badge and must be produced at all times
The conditions and applications forms will be available to print off the WFSA website within the next week. In the near future hard copies are going to be available in local tackle shops
All clubs affiliated to the WFSA are covered by our very own Public Liability insurance which the Port Authorities recognises and accepts. They will only accept copies submitted with our own red stamp and a valid signature therefore a list of any club members wishing to apply must be sent to myself to have the correct paperwork in place prior to sending your application form off
Due to recent unacceptable incidents this was the best outcome anglers could have wished for. It is not going to please everyone some individuals are going to be upset, but considering there was going to be a blanket ban on angling we have got a result. We have now got a established system in place.
There will be no exceptions any Opens, qualifiers- all entries will have to be permit holders. Opens can still be applied for with a maximum number of vehicles being allowed through the gates at seventy
The Foreshore is private land and not as some regard it as a right of way. The area will be policed and prosecutions going to take place for anyone fishing without a permit.
Any litter found or any fires light will result in a life ban for the parties concerned
