5th Leg May
A day of two halves, first the rain and wind then the sunshine and a breeze
We all met at 0730 intending to fish the bay barrage from 0800 until 1300, when we arrived the wind was blowing at approx 30 mph SW straight into our faces and lashing it down, the weather had decided to stop us fishing.
Several of the members decided to call it a day without getting wet but a few of the die hard’s decided to give it ago after making the effort to turn up, after 30 minutes they were rewarded by the wind changing direction to Westerly and the rain easing and the sun coming out, all in all it turned into a good days fishing with plenty of fish.
The fish that made up the bags were Dogfish and Whiting, top junior for the second match in succession was Joshua Phillips from Taffs Well with an all whiting bag, he was unlucky not to get up the wall, a Conger estimated at around 10 to 11lb when his hook length parted. Still it did not deter him and we heard about all day after that. (The one that got away)
The senior match was won by Mike Dixon also from Taffs Well with Gareth Davies from Bridgend taking second spot.
The full results are as follows...
Mike Dixon 1st with 393cm (23 fish), Gareth Davies 2nd with 277cm (16 fish)
Top junior Joshua Phillips with 98cm (5 fish).
