This was the first casting day of 2009 and the weather conditions were difficult at the best of times. We had 14 members braving the cold and the swirling winds, and when I say cold it got down to -6. But this did not stop two of our members get there personal best, first was George (Walrus) Barratt with a good cast of 162yrds on a 150gr lead George beat his old PB by 27yrds. Second up was new member Mark (Bull Dog) Woodward Who started the day with a cast just over 100yrds? And after some help from one of our casting instructors Roger Banks, Mark recorded a new PB of 154yrds on the 150gr lead well done to you both.
New to fishing and first time caster Elaine Tyrrell was happy to spend some time with casting instructor Mike Dixon, Elaine recorded a good cast of 75yrds not bad for her first time keep it going Elaine.
Top rod of the day went to Gareth Davies who recorded two new club records on the F/S, 100gr - 222yrds and 125gr – 226yrds, also he recorded a casts of 251yrds on the 175gr lead and 252yrds on the 150gr lead
